Operational Suggestions

For Lanterns: Use clean, unleaded gasoline fuel. Of course, Coleman fuel is the best choice and it gives you trouble-free operation for long long time.

Also, always be sure to use Coleman mantles which are exclusively made for Coleman lanterns. All well-balanced size, sharpe, material, and "American craftman ship" guarantee your Coleman lantern's the brightest candle power. Now that this question is asked. Why they are called "The Sunshine of The Night"....? You bet!

Operational Suggestions
For stoves: Use cllean, unleaded gasoline fuel. Of course, Coleman fuel is the best choice and it gives you trouble-free operation for long long time. You may need "pre-heating" your stove's generator if you use them under extremely cold weather. I have never done it. Oops.. ! I did it once before for 530 GI stove.

How often oil pump leather cup?
Coleman suggests "At least twice a year". That't it?.... Yes, that's it! You can use Coleman rubricant but also you can use Clean motor oil, too. I heard that one of Coleman lovers used motor oil from his own car's engine. Of course, this was an emergency thought. Believe or not.

How can I store my old Coleman?
I would say "it depens". Coleman quite often mentions "emptied" fuel when it is not used and store cool area. However, some old articles said "fill" the tank with clean fresh fuel. I prefer to "fill" the tank with a lot of fuel. Why? Guess what.

Why you collect old Coleman?
Quite honestly, I don't know why. Even I have never think about it. How about you? As a matter of fact that this question has been asked by my wife over and over. I hope she finds an answer some day. Now. Why you started collecting old Colemans and when?

Finding old Colemans now and past
Well, this could be hard to answer to let you know WHERE ,WHEN, HOW, and those types of specific questions. Let's say about 7-8 years ago, 200A, 202, 242*, and many others were every where. Now ..... Uhhhh (deep breath). Seriously, I was not pay attention to any "JUNK" Colemans a decade ago. What is going on my garage now?

What would you like to say for this one? "JUNK" or "COLLECTIBLE" ?

Do you think that you quit collect old Colemans?
That's good question. I really like that. Answes may vary. For exaple, if I had a lot of money, I possibly would quit collect old Colemans, but I don't think I quite use them. As a real human, I might be lured by classic cars, Italian cars, or something like that.

What is your dream ?
My dream.....? I am always dreaming! Seriously, I am dreaming of traveling with an old Coleman camping trailer to visit places where I could find old Colemans. Oh, boy...I am crazy...

My history for collecting old Colemans: I would say that I was NOT collecting any old Colemans. I was just using them for camping, fishing, and family activities. The biggest turning point was that being a member of mountain climbing club when I was in high school, I believe.

At that time, Swedish stoves like phoebus, primus, and SVEA were more popular than Coleman to me. Time after time, outdoor boom was coming to me around middle of 1970's to 1980's. The Sierra parkas, 40/60 (60/40?) down jackets, and other outdoor related equipments were aroud me all the time. Yes, sure. Coleman lanterns and stoves were also with me.

It's been over 35 years since I used the first Coleman and maybe 15 years since I started collecting old Colemans for my own sake.

"What are you dreaming, son?"
I have never thought buying any expensive arts. I go to used book stores instead to find old Coleman ads. Be careful, they are sometimes very fragile just like a pie.

"What would you expect?"
New never opened box is my hope always. What things do you want to see when you open the box of old Coleman?
